Hypnotic yet laid back bass line leading the development of the song and matching on counterpoint the dialogue between the lead voice and the lead guitar. Subtile drums framing the breaks and changes with a perfect structure.

It’s possible to know the whole horrible story and love and respect every member of Lush. I had no idea what I was walking into when I fell in love with them as a fifteen year old in 1994 when Hypocrite and Desire Lines came out, then Split on 13 June 1994, the last day of my GCSEs. What happened to Chris is of course tragic. Miki and Emma both went through horrible stuff and I know Miki particularly doesn’t come out of it looking good at all. But we will always have their music, and both Emma and Miki are still making music and Phil and Steve (and Meriel!) are of course still out there being amazing. My life would not be what it is without them. I’m glad they were there and are still there. ❤
